Second Assassin's Creed Fan Film Concept Art: History Written in Blood

Here's the most recent of the concept pieces for Mathew Lorenceau's Assassin's Creed short. This one was meant to be much more intimate, and while the assassination takes place in a private quarters of a bishop, I felt it necessary to make it a place of study and worship, so as to make the role of the intended victim, and the nature of the scene more realized. I like the idea that while in the foreground the assassin draws his weapon and prepares for his kill, nearby are the documents and means by which history itself is written (history written in blood, that sort of thing).

The architecture is a tense blend of Gothic with hints of Andalusia. Though I don't know if any such structure existed in Medieval Spain, I liked the idea of illustrating the imprints of Christian and Islamic cultures overlapping in some way.

I also did a few modifications to the Assassin's outfit, or at least offered alternatives to what he might wear. I wanted the gauntlets to look a little more ... Eastern.
